Law Admission Guide: CLAT, University Tests and LLB Routes

How to get into a law programme in India — CLAT for NLUs, university law tests for private schools, and the integrated vs three-year LLB choice.

By Grave Minds Editorial Team · Published · 5 min read

Law admission in India has a clear centre — CLAT — and a wide ring of private law schools with their own processes. Most aspirants combine the two.

Integrated LLB or three-year LLB?

  • Integrated BA LLB / BBA LLB — five years, straight after Class 12.
  • LLB — three years, after a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

CLAT

CLAT is the admission test for the National Law Universities, conducted by the Consortium of NLUs. Several private institutions, such as Nirma University, also accept CLAT scores.

University law tests

Others, including O.P. Jindal Global University, admit through their own university process.

Preparing

Reading comprehension, legal and logical reasoning and current affairs carry most law tests. Start reading widely early; it pays off across every exam.

Our law pathway tracks each test with verified dates. Talk to a counsellor if you want help choosing.
